If you are like me and think of yourself as an absolute object of perfection, you undoubtedly like to admire yourself in any slightly reflective object… hall mirrors, shiny buildings, well waxed cars, a fork… and most likely you desire a decorative mirror accent behind your home bar. Mirrors can provide a great service for a bar area that is part of a larger multi-functional room. A mirror can help define and separate the space and add reflective depth. Options for bar mirrors can be endless and styles for every taste. Below are a few general suggestions that can really help your bar stand out.

French Trumeau Mirror
The elegant French Trumeau style mirror, usually found in white, ivory, or grey finish, can transform a bar station into an architectural detail with its height stretching from bar top to ceiling.

Crested Mirror
Another classic French style is the Crested Mirror with ornate scroll work. This style is long and lean. With the crest positioned at the top, it draws the eye upward and is ideal for lower ceiling spaces. Crested Mirrors can come in classic white or ivory or a variety of metal finishes such as gold and silver leaf.

Venetian Crest Mirror
A Venetian Crest Mirror adds a truly old world feel with detailed decorative work and unique shapes (like a family crest). These mirrors show best in gold, silver, pewter, or blackened for a more baroque look.

Black Cleopatra Mirror
Going for a more art deco style, try something like this Black Cleopatra Mirror with simple straight lines and a mixture of lustrous black and metallics.

Circle in Square Mirror
An alternative to a traditional framed mirror configuration is the addition of designed art overlay. These designs can range from small and intricate, to big and bold depending on your taste. Shown here is a classic “Circle in Square” design and a more modern version of a “Pebble Mirror.” Also, mirrors with overlays tend to be less “flashy.”

Pebble Mirror

Camillas Hat Mirror
Round mirrors are a good fit with a rectangular bar as the contrasting shapes play off of each other to provide more visual interest. The Camillas Hat Mirror, although very unfortunately inspired and named, adds perceived movement to the wall. It looks good in modern silver or pewter finishes.
A newer twist on the standard single mirror is a the use of a cluster of mirrors. Clusters can come in many shapes, sizes, and quantities affording great flexibility to your design. The arrangement of the cluster can also cleverly hide wall imperfections or be spread out or condensed to provide the desired space illusion.

Modern Mirror Cluster Sets
These are just a few mirrored ideas for you to “reflection.” The list is in no means exhaustive. Remember to be true to your own personal style and smile at yourself in the mirror while making your dirty martini!
